Own One of the World’s Rarest Trees

If there is a single plant that embodies the spirit of the Jurassic Garden, it is the Wollemi Pine.

Known as the “Dinosaur Tree”, the Wollemi Pine was believed extinct until a tiny population was discovered in a remote Australian canyon in 1994. Prior to its rediscovery, it was known only from fossils dating back millions of years, making it one of the most significant botanical discoveries of the modern era. Fewer than 100 mature specimens are known to survive in the wild today.

Its importance extends far beyond the gardening world.

In 2005, Sir David Attenborough personally planted one of the first Wollemi Pines at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, describing it as “a rare survivor from such an ancient past.”

The tree has also attracted royal attention. His Royal Highness Prince Philip planted a Wollemi Pine at Kew Gardens in 2009 as part of ongoing conservation efforts surrounding this extraordinary species.

Today, by growing a Wollemi Pine in your own garden, you become part of one of the most successful plant conservation programmes ever undertaken. The worldwide cultivation of Wollemi Pines helps protect the species from extinction while allowing gardeners to enjoy a genuine living fossil.

Our Wollemi are grown from some of the first cuttings brought across from Australia after the rediscovery of Wollemi Pine, and are the most mature specimens available for sale today.
